Cook pasta according to package directions.

Reserve 1/2 cup pasta water.
Drain pasta and return it to pot.
Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high.
Add shrimp and remaining 1/2 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon black pepper.
Cook until shrimp are lightly browned and just cooked through, about 4 minutes.
Toss butter mixture and shrimp with drained pasta.
Add remaining 1/4 cup reserved pasta water as needed to loosen sauce to desired consistency.
Top with black pepper and cheese.
