Its very possible to convince people your home is neat and tidy with this low-effort, high-impact game plan.
The key is to target the zones guests would notice when they slide in your home.
Without further ado, heres how I fake a clean houseand how you might too.
On that note, polish off the television and any hangingmirrors if theyre dusty, especially in the entryway.
Its certainly not bare, but its not cluttered either.
The biggest reason?Baskets.
While Im decluttering, I use this time to straighten things up like pillows and tabletop decor.
And dont forget to hit up the stove too!
By the way, I dont stress too much about dishes in this situation.
People are generally understanding about a few unwashed dishes, but filthy countertops?
Less so, for some reason.
Vacuum and Pay Attention to Corners
I dont necessarily mop when Im doing this quick fix.
(Bonus points if you vacuum orsweep off dust from the baseboard!)
But the reality is that this task alone can take a while!
Any countertop clutter I just shove in the medicine cabinet or vanity drawer.
This includes the one in your bathroom, as well as any other wastebaskets throughout your home.
I know, its absurd, but at least it keeps me on the straight and narrow!
It brightens up a space and just makes it feel airier.
And c’mon, close any doors it’s possible for you to!
If folks arent hanging out in the bedrooms or your study, dont bother sprucing them up.
Just shut the door, and guests will be none the wiser.
