A quick run through the washer and dryer can help you ensure a comfy slumber.

(Just let your washing machine and dryer do the hard work!)

Invest in a pillow protector for your feather pillow.

Inspect your pillows

Check the seams and fabric for any tiny rips or tears.

(Otherwise, you risk a big mess in your washing machine!)

Treat any stains

Sweat, saliva, and beauty products can stain your pillow.

Apply the enzyme-based stain remover, and let it sit in for 15 minutes to help release the stains.

Skip the fabric softener, as it will coat the feathers and reduce their loft.

An extra rinse cycle should do the trick.

Damp clumps of feathers will smell musty and eventually develop mold and mildew.

And of course, they’ll also keep the pillow from regaining its fluff.

Your clothes dryer is the best way to dry your pillows to get all the moisture out quickly.

Run them through the dryer

launch the feather pillows through the dryer on medium heat.

Check them every 20 minutes, fluffing and shaking them before popping back in the dryer.

When they’re fully fluffed and dried with no clumps remaining, you’re ready to go!

It may take several drying cycles to get your pillows perfectly dried.

Or for a more natural fluff, let your pillows sit out in the sunlight to refresh them.

Sunlight can help kill bacteria, dry out any moisture in your pillows, and refresh them.
