We spoke with two professional organizations for their best tips on how to organize art supplies.
You might even find yourself excited to bring the project to completion.
First, take out every single craft supply you own.
Colored pencils, markers, paint brushes, paper, thread, yarn, and beyond.
Lay everything out in front of you so you’re able to take stock of everything you own.
This is the things get messy before they get better part of the process.
Some items can be donated, others can be recycled or thrown away.
If you have multiple sets of markers, keep one set and maybe even one back-up set.
Donate the rest to someone in need or to your childs classroom.
You do not need 10 packs of markers.
To streamline, ask yourself: Have I had the opportunity to use this in the past year?
If you answer yes, but you havent used it, consider donating.
For items that remain, give yourself a time boundary of six to 12 months to use them.
Categorize Everything
Joy Wells says to establish a defined space for your art supplies.
Everything should fit in your chosen closet or cabinet.
Next, start categorizing like-items.
Keep the categories general to help keep them organized long-term, Urgo says.
Think mason jars or old candle vessels for paintbrushes and spools of thread, or baskets for yarn.
Outside of these, verify you have organizers on hand to keep everything else ship-shape.
Make a plan depending on your space and take measurements.
Along the way, reflect.
