When selecting green peppers, opt for those with shiny, unpunctured or blemished skins.
They should have a bit of stem intact and be firm, not soft or wrinkly.
How Long Do Frozen Green Peppers Last?
Frozen green peppers will last in the freezer for up to a year.
They shouldnt be defrosted and refrozen, as that can ruin the texture and make them mushy.
Freezing hot peppers like jalapenos and chilis is a snap.
They just need to be washed and sealed in an airtight, freezer-safe container or bag.
Frozen green peppers can be used in almost all the same ways as fresh green peppers.
Sliced green peppers can be defrosted and eaten raw (seriously!)
and whole green peppers can be used to make Southwestern Stuffed Peppers or other stuffed pepper dishes.
One drawback of freezing green peppers is that they can become mushy once they’re thawed.
If your peppers are mushy, skip snacking on them raw.
Instead, use them in cooking dishes like stir fries, soups, casseroles, and other hot dishes.
