Heres how to cook asparagus in the oven.
Wash the asparagus and pat it dry.
Trim the Ends
Snap off the woody ends of the asparagus.
Alternatively, the ends can be trimmed on a diagonal with a sharp knife for a cleaner aesthetic.
Add the asparagus to a sheet pan in a single layer.
If the asparagus overlaps, use a second sheet pan or roast it in batches.
Add salt and pepper on top of the asparagus.
Roast
Roast asparagus in the preheated oven for 10 to 12 minutes.
The thickness of the asparagus will impact the cooking time.
Cooked asparagus should be bright green and tender, but still have a snap.
The layer touching the sheet pan will be nicely seared.
Start testing asparagus after 10 minutes to avoid overcooking it.
