The odor may be coming from what’s stuck to your sink!
If you have a double-bowl kitchen sink, be sure both sides are empty and clean.
Combine the boiling water with one cup of distilled white vinegar.
If you have a double-bowl kitchen sink, heat two cups of water and add two cups of vinegar.
There will be foaming.
Then flush the drain with two cups of very hot water from the tap.
If you still notice odor around the kitchen sink drain, it could be coming from the garbage disposal.
The baking soda and vinegar method works well but a disposal requires a morethorough cleaningto get rid of odors.
The cause could be a clogged or dry P-trap (the curved pipe section under the sink).
If you’re handy with tools you’ve got the option to clean the P-trap yourself.
Use a wrench to loosen the nuts holding the trap and empty the trap into the bucket.
Flush the P-trap with water in another sink and put it back in place.
Repeat the baking soda, vinegar, and hot water flush of the sink.
If there is still a significant odor, call an expert.
A plumber can pinpoint where the nasty smell is coming from and repair the issue.
Possible causes are blockages in the plumbing lines, blocked air vents, or sewage line leaks.
