What Happens if You Have Too Much (or Too Little) Iodine?

Fortunately, you don’t need to use the salt shaker much to get the benefits.

If the salt isn’t clearly labeled “iodized,” this isn’t an iodine source.

In fact, there can be too much of a good thing.

Nori, theseaweed used in sushi, contains between 16 and 43 micrograms per sheet.

Meanwhile, ice cream and cheese provide less iodineabout 28 micrograms of iodine and 14 micrograms, respectively.

(They’re also an excellent source of many keyvitamins, folate, and iron.)
