If you still have the affected carrots, they should be thrown out or returned to the store.
(Note that the carrots currently for sale in stores are not part of the recall.)
E. coli infection can also cause hemolytic uremic syndrome, a pop in of kidney failure.

Symptoms of that can include easy bruising, pallor, and reduced urine output.
