How Long Does Frozen Butter Last?

Frozen butter lasts six to 12 months when properly stored in the freezer in an airtight container.

Salted butter may last longer than unsalted butter since salt helps with preservation.

After the one-year mark, the butters quality and flavor begin to deteriorate.

It may also acquire odors or flavors from other food stored in the freezer if stored too long.

If the butter has an odor or sour smell or tastes rancid, you should toss it.

Butter should always be frozen before its “Best By” or “Use By” date.

The intended use or recipe will determine how you go about it.

Doing so will give you the best results.
