Yes, were talking about dust in the bathroom.

No matter how often we clean it, it always seems to come back quickly.

But for a room where so much water is used, how do our bathrooms get so dusty?

Here are eight reasons why your bathroom is so dusty, and expert tips to help keep it clean.

Why Do Bathrooms Get So Dusty?

If your bathroom seems like its constantly coated in a layer of dust, youre not alone.

There are several factors that contribute to making bathrooms especially dusty.

Thats right: toilet paper produces lint, too.

And those super-soft fuzzy bath mats?

Those not only give off lint, but they tend to trap dirt and dust as well.

Dead Skin Cells

Its gross, but true.

On top of that, theres the hair we remove when shaving.

Hair, whether long or short, also sheds and sticks to surfaces easily, Sokolowski says.

Whatever we track inside combines with the existing dust, creating more of it that can spread around.

Because these surfaces tend to be sticky, theyre especially good at trapping and collecting dust.

Dont worrywere here to help.

Here are some of the most effective strategies for removing dust from a bathroom.

Start at the Top

Before you tackle the dust at eye-level, start at the top.

Vieira recommends using an extendable duster on the highest parts of the room.

Dont forget to use the vacuums attachments for the hard-to-reach places.

Unlike paper towels, the material typically doesnt produce lint.

Instead of thick, fluffy towels, consider thinner ones made from Turkish cotton or linen, Hiller says.

Plus, if you have the option, store your towelsin cabinets instead of out in the open.

Moisture can mix with dust and turn into grime, Sokolowski says.

For this reason, regularly declutter your bathroom, and store as much as possible in drawers and cabinets.

exit the Toilet Lid

The toilet is also a source of moisture in the bathroom.

These trap dust and lint, especially in humid environments, she says.

Put Hair Ties and Brushes Away

Store hair ties and brushes in closed containers.

These often-overlooked items can collect and shed dust, Sokolowski says.
